Perception

02/18/14

Perception is dangerous. Set in a social setting, it is how one immediately or intuitively perceive or recognize the other person’s character, image or behaviour.

Perception is dangerous. As it forms quickly and naturally, therefore one tends to think of one’s perception as absolutely correct, even though this other person may not be who you think s/he is.

Perception is dangerous. Because even when the other person changes their character, image or behaviour, one’s initial perception of this other person will be really hard pressed to adapt and change.

Perception is dangerous.

2014 CNY Resolution

01/30/14

It’s fun to make resolutions, even if they’re not being follow through.

Chinese New Year is just round the corner, and its a perfect time to make a resolution!

I only have one this year: I consciously choose to only do things that I am happy. Not happy? Then I don’t do.

Sounds simple? We’ll see.

Happy CNY la.

Of flower bouquet and tiger

01/15/14

This morning, I dreamt about receiving a bouquet of flowers which when tickle, will slowly unfurl into a colourful dancing cartoon tiger. Although I can’t recall the type of flowers, I have the distinct feeling the tiger is of the Chinese type… (If you know what I mean).

Half the joy about having bizarre dreams is about figuring out what does it all mean (unsuccessfully):

The last day of my 2013 concluded with a bang! I couldn’t be happier as my hard work finally paid off. It’s a perfect conclusion to my 2013. Coupled in with the fact that I have shed some stubborn kgs… OMG I’m ready for 2014, and hope that you are too!!! 🙂

Goodbye, 2013

12/31/13

Goodbye now 2013 – of diving at live volcano, of diving at wreck, of diving at live-on-board, of completing ERF & rescue, of organizing various events, of running my 1st & 2nd marathon, of reading Steven Erikson, of meeting new friends, of cementing friendships over beer & gym & holiday trips, of acquiring a huge scar, of worrying, of learning how to let go, and of learning how to be more at peace with myself.

I’m ready for 2014. 🙂

The Future of Storytelling: Enrolled!

10/28/13

Some time last week my friend send me a link – “The Future Of Storytelling”. One of the free university course hosted by iversity, created by y Prof. Winfried Gerling, Prof. Constanze Langer, Christina Maria Schollerer, and Julian van Dieken. As a book lover and (irregular) blog writer, I think this course will definitely help me in writing better blog (or even social media) posts and perhaps be better at bullshitting people. Who knows, someday I might even write a short novel! 😛

It’s a totally free course (and since I’m a firm believer in life-long learning) so please, go check it out here: https://iversity.org/c/6?r=578ae

Being Thirtysomething

09/23/13

Couple weeks ago while I’m at #TheGastroProject… or #ChulosCafe… (seriously can’t remember – part of ), I asked my friend why are there no popular female bloggers who are more ‘matured’ – as in like not in their 20s? He told me since I already have a personal blog, I should move my fat arse and start blogging about women in their thirties – or being ‘thirtysomething’ – our life our thoughts our views our life our relationships our careers our marriage our kids.

Yep, you got it right. I’m thirtysomething and I’m proud of it. Thus I’m going to dedicate my first post about being thirtysomething to all the +-28 years old who are going to hit their big 3-0 soon. You are officially allowed to gnaw your fingers and tear your hair and worried endlessly that your carefree life, as you know it, is going to end.

If you are acting (very) hormonal or have doubts about your talents or think that you have achieved nothing thus far in your life or being very anxious all the time or think that life beyond 30s are hopeless – know that you are not alone. Take a deeeeeeeepppppp breath, and chill. 🙂

Turning 30 is indeed a milestone for many women, and it can be really really stressful for you. So it’s little wonder that you’d be totally strung up of being 30. I went through ALL of the above symptoms without going out with a blaze of glory. But hey, take it from the woman who are 2 steps closer to the mid-30s, LIFE GOES ON. My life didn’t stop at being 30s, hell no. In fact.

Movie Review: Jobs 2013

09/06/13

I went to watch “Jobs” the movie without a clue that it is the biographical drama film based on the life of Steve Jobs. I heard about Ashton Kutcher taking the role of Steve Jobs some time ago, and that’s about it, I didn’t know it was named “Jobs”. *duh*

If you don’t already know, this movie “Jobs” is about the life story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.

PS: Thanks GameloftAmanzTM and TGV for the invite and the movie! (…)

Day 3 of Eating Healthier

08/07/13

I learned couple weeks ago from a renown nutritionist, that she never understand why people termed losing weight as “dieting”. In her industry, “diet” means the food one consumes, so naturally, “dieting” is equal to “EATING”. Interesting, right?

Yep ladies and gentlemen, dieting aka losing weight, is about the science of eating right. I guess you would have known this too, heck I think everyone knows this. I can’t speak for other people, but as for myself, I find myself constantly subconsciously trying to curb my eating pattern or type of food consumed or, this is worst of them all – Not Eating. Contradict to common sense? I know. But it’s a fast track way to see your KGs melt down if you wanted a quick fix (I didn’t say it’s healthy).  (…)

Of buying a bed

08/05/13

I have a recurring dream of going to the different levels of departmental store trying to purchase a… bed? I remember the layout of the departmental store (somewhat). I remember going to the initial section of the departmental store at 2F and meet the friendly sales couple (they were middle aged uncle & aunty) and then made a detour and got lost and ended up at 4F – the gym section where many dark skin men were working out (!!!). I remember trying to get back to 2F by staircase but 3F is total darkness. I remember the happy feeling when I somehow manage to get back to 2F to the nice aunty & uncle and manage to buy my bed.
