moving! moving! moving!

It is time to move. I mean, why would I stay by myself in a 3-room condo? Not like I can afford the whole rent myself. Or maybe I could afford the rent, I just don’t have to eat, drink, drive and shop all the time.

For me myself and my shadow alone, I have 2 huge boxes of shoes, several boxes of clothes, some boxes of junks, and a few furniture pieces. OH MY GOD, since when did I collect all these junks?

It made me realized that human, in general, collect junks. Why? Because they like to buy. Buy buy buy buy buy. Especially girls. Not that they need those items, they just want them. Somehow being the proprietor of an awesome piece of item is being translated to how successful, how tasteful, how cool they are.

Open your wardrobe and check how many items have you purchased yet have never used? Isn’t this a waste of natural and human resources? Does our mindless purchase indirectly contributed to the global warming issue?

I’m so goddam tired from having to lift heavy stuff and arrange all the stupid furniture I have to acquire as I’m moving from a furnished to an unfurnished place. Why didn’t anyone warn me that I’m going to have a “fun-filled” field day looking for furnitures for the empty room? *argh*

Now in the midst of sorting, packing, unpacking, resorting, repacking (luckily I have enough training packing for events), I did discover some interesting facts about gender:

one: Guys and girls pack stuff differently. Ask a guy to move, he will swipe everything in boxes, seal them and consider it done. Girls will sort and pack nicely – especially their expensive accessories, make ups, clothes and shoes.

two: Girls have definitely more stuff than guys! Just count the number of their shoes or clothes.

three: No straight guys will ever buy a red or orange curtain, yet they will say ‘yeah OK it looks just fine’ to girls! (yes, bro, YOU!)

OK OK, enough ranting. Back to more packing! *groan*

If I ever going to have a baby…

It will be because I like to have my very own living breathing replica.

And I will pick an intelligent man with great charisma so together we will create a better specimen of human being. *evil laugh*

it’s December!

Actually I have plenty of things to write, like introducing more munching places (won’t really call it a review), the movies I’ve watched, my thoughts on certain issues, the books I’ve read lately, the people I’ve met recently, the ideas that just can’t leave my mind alone, the crazy yet super fun weekend I just had, the decisions I’ve just made that I knew in my heart were a key to determine my life moving forward…

…but I’m just too swarmed with too much activities…
And I haven’t even upload most of the pictures I’ve taken;
And I’m moving house (I haven’t even lifted a finger to pack!!! Any volunteers?);
And I’m supposed to organize a family trip as well as help out with my high school anniversary’s reunion;
And I have new responsibilities at work;
And I need to sell my housemate’s (or ex-) fairly new IKEA Malm Queen size bed frame (anyone? please? I’m begging ya);

And then it hit me, shit, it’s already December 2007! What the hell did I do this year?

……I guess all I try to do is searching for my inner soul… you know, the Quarter Life Crisis.. and look what happened as consequences haha.

Oh well. Stuff the soul-searching. Can’t wait for ZoukOut @ Singapore!

difficult crossroad

Since the beginning of this year, I noticed there is a change in myself. It’s a subtle shift really, more on my outlook of life. Then I am smacked with a whirlwind of unexpected events – like most of my good close friends moved down to Singapore, very precious few of them actually came back into my life in KL, some good colleagues left for greener pastures, a change in job role, living alone, etc.

And therefore the expected subsequent consequences are me having too much time on my hand which leads to some minor soul searching, thinking about what I really want with my life. Can’t really spend too much time on reflecting on myself, I’m really afraid it’s all pitch black inside haha.

I tried different maneuvers to pacify my restlessness. I tried job hunting, I tried dating, I tried hooking up with different new friends, I tried catching up with old friends, I tried clubbing, I tried not to club so much, I tried dieting, I tried going to the Zoo (haha), I tried throwing a party.

…All of which served as a temporary reprieve. I am never a person who takes leaving nicely. Especially hate changes when it comes to friendship/relationship. I wish all my friends are all in one location and all of them get along well

But at least now, after some effort made, I know my life is finally going to lead somewhere different. I wanted a change, now I got the chance to change. But I am given TOO MANY choices! Too many choices are not good! So now I find myself once again at a difficult crossroad, thinking of which direction will eventually lead me to the highway I wanted to cruise along. So many things to consider, so many decisions to make. Arggh!!! Can somebody help me please?

Case 6:
An ex-colleague of mine is actually a then-colleague of my current colleague some eons years ago. (Note: I am attached to the same company)

Perhaps October is a good month for God to make us realize intensely just how small the world is, or how freaky it is that almost everyone knows someone who knows that somebody… Or maybe it’s just facebook trying to show its power.

Here are some examples (not in chronological order):
Case 1:
A colleague of mine actually knew a friend of mine whom I have known since uni days! Would never have thought they knew each other.

Case 2:
The boyfriend of a colleague of mine is actually the high school friend of my university friend cum housemate of 2 years.

Case 3:
A new found friend of mine (who is friend of friend of my colleague’s boyfriend who is the high school friend of my university friend cum housemate of 2 years, aka Case 2) is actually the sister of the boyfriend of my ex-colleague.

Case 4:
Another friend of mine is actually the brother of the husband of my another ex-colleague.

Case 5:
A random ang-mo guy who so happened sat next to Xann and me at the cafe at Zoo Negara actually studied the same course in the same university as me at almost the same period of time. (What is the probability?)

Note to self: My life seemed to evolve around my colleagues, my ex-colleagues, or my colleague’s friends, or my ex-colleague’s friends, or their friend’s friend. Sad, very sad.
Note to self 2: I’m beginning to think that the word ‘friend’ somehow look super wrong… The spelling I mean.

grocery shopping = marriage life?

I accompanied my parents to grocery shopping today at the new Giant in Melaka. During the 1.5 hours time we pushed the trolley up down left right front and back of the supermarket; compared prices of the fish; admired the cut of the lamb shoulder; picked the reddest tomato; argued over vitagen and yakult; dicussed the benefits of oat & muesli; debated whether if wholemeal or multigrain bread contains more fibre; waited in line for peanut butter waffles; chose between arabian or columbian coffee beans; and met two of my parents’ couples friends who did almost exactly the same thing as us, except that they don’t have, within their near vincinity, an argumentative daughter who will sneakily slipped in her favourite vitagen into the trolley no matter what her mum says.

Makes me wonder, does happy grocery trips made up a harmonious marriage life?

An Ode to Elevator

Elevator is a strange place created that most city folks who stay in condominiums, service apartments and flats, or work in high-rise buildings, will inevitably invariably use on a daily basis (even those that stays one floor up only!).

Elevator creates a special moment for people who doesn’t know each other or might otherwise never cross path in their lifetime to meet. Or to trap people in a tight confined space who don’t know where to put their eyes or their hands or their feet when they’re inside a lift with a stranger.

What do you do in a lift with a stranger? Do you stare fixedly at the level numbers displayed on the little screen while muttering ‘faster la faster la’? Or lacking the digital display you play with your phone, or check your watch, or have a sudden interest in your nails or your shoes? Or do you take the opportunity to examine other people’s wardrobe?

When you are in your residential elevator, do you smile & nod at your neighbours? Do you try to create an idle chat with them to pass the waiting time to reach your floor? Or do you plainly ignore them?

So what have you done when you are alone in the elevator?
- Utilize the mirror inside to check your appearances / apply make up
- Wave or make silly faces to the security camera
- Adjust your bra straps, pants, shoelaces, etc
- Looking for your car keys / house keys
- Read / Listen to mp3s
- Nap?

What is the worst situation you can find yourself in the elevator? (in no order of priority)
- You talk something bad about someone and after that realized the person is standing right behind you
- The door opens and you find two people having sex (or more? *shocked*)
- You want to pee but the elevator is moving oh-so-slowly!
- Somebody just let out a particularly nasty fart
- Someone needs a shower, badly

This one definitely takes the cream: Got stuck in an elevator break down and your mobile phone line is nil and the emergency button is not functioning and…
- you need to use the bathroom badly
- OR your water broke (time to deliver a baby!)
- OR you are stuck with somebody with a badddddd BO

Actually… that reminded me of a video clip of two people fondling each other in the lift and got captured by the security camera. Ahh.. but I digress.

And therefore it is of my opinion that most people prefer to take the elevator ALONE… break down or not.

See, if human never evolve, if electricity and steel were never discovered, we will never be caught dead in any of the situations above. Then again, we wouldn’t be able to blog or surf net or MSN. *cold shudder*
